Do you need gross motor exercises for kids that your child can do at home?
Are you looking for exercises that work on specific gross motor skills?
Do you want ideas to help your child develop gross motor skills in preparation for starting school?
Children of all ages benefit immensely from gross motor activities. Elsewhere on my site, I explore some of the research behind the advantages of gross motor exercises, whether done in the classroom or at home.
These exercises have been designed with time-pressured and budget-conscious parents in mind! I have used these activities with my own kids as well as the many children I have worked with as an OT over the years, so they are all tried and tested!
I use photographs to illustrate the instructions, to help make it easier for parents and teachers to know what to do.
If you wade your way through the pages of my website, you will find some of the ideas and activities for free. (Just browse the activity
links on the nav bar and follow the links!)
However, I have compiled dozens of exercises (including many that are not on my site) into inexpensive downloads, to make it easy for you to access, read, print out and refer to the information over and over again for all your children. All for the cost of a couple of coffees...

Many parents ask how to create a gross motor exercise routine for their kids.
There
is no hard and fast rule about how often to do gross motor exercises. It
depends on your child's abilities and also on your family's lifestyle.
Each
family is different and you need to decide what works best for you. I
believe the best schedule would incorporate 10 to 20 minutes of fun exercises 3 times a week.
In each of my e-books above, I give suggestions to help you pick the exercises that best suit your child and family situation, and I also suggest ways of incorporating the exercises into your own weekly routine. There is a goal planner and an activity planner included in each e-book to help you on your way.
