Fine Motor Christmas Tree
Have your child paint or color this tree and then decorate with crumpled paper balls using the tripod fingers to work on fine motor dexterity.

3D Christmas Star Craft
Cut out elongated heart shapes on the template given and staple them together to make a 3D nativity star.

Good for kids who can use scissors fairly well but need a little practice in cutting neatly.

Detailed photographed instructions are given in the PDF.

You will need 4 pages of white or yellow cardstock, scissors and a stapler to make this star. An adult needs to do the stapling.

Manger Scene Cutting Activity
This Christmas cutting activity requires the child to color the objects on the template, and then cut them out, to paste on a blue background.

Detailed photographed instructions are given in the PDF.

This activity is a little fiddly for preschoolers, and would work best with first graders or older kids.

Names of God Ornaments

Great for scissor cutting practice! This e-book contains a wide variety of shapes that can be cut out by both beginner cutters (ovals, circles, diamonds and squares) AND experienced cutters (stars, crosses, hearts).

Each shape contains a name of God, and the Bible reference is given on the page for each name, as well as its meaning where appropriate.

Hint: print the pages on cardstock, and decorate them BEFORE cutting them out! You will need a paper punch and ribbon to finish off the ornaments.

Truth in the Tinsel

I reviewed Truth in the Tinsel’s advent book on my Christian Christmas Crafts page, but their “ornament” book gives an opportunity to work on scissor cutting skills. It contains the paper format of the 24 decorations needed for the advent devotions, to be used instead of the crafts on a “busy” day.

However, even without the advent lesson book, the decorations can be used as a Christmas cutting activity.

There are 24 illustrated circles that can be decorated and cut out to decorate an advent tree or even strung across a banner to represent the different parts of the Christmas story. The circles do have a little “bump” at the top to accommodate the hole for the ribbon – you can either cut the little bumps ahead of time for your novice cutter, or let your child attempt them.

Hint: print the pages on cardstock, and decorate them BEFORE cutting them out! You will need a paper punch and ribbon/thread to finish off the ornaments.

Jesse Tree Coloring Book

This Jesse Tree coloring book contains the scriptures needed for each day in Advent, a small daily cutting activity, multiple coloring pages, and copywork pages for handwriting.

Let your kids crumple paper balls with their tripod fingers (see instructions on my finger exercises page) to develop their fine motor skills, and use the balls to decorate the coloring pictures.
