Hands-On Summer!
Practice Writing Without A Pencil!
Welcome to Part Two in my series of Hands-On Summer Newsletters!
Do you have a reluctant writer? A child who really needs to practice writing their name, or who struggled with spelling and really could do with some practice? I know the feeling too well!
As an occupational therapist and homeschooling mom, I have seen first-hand how poor fine motor and visual motor skills can impact handwriting and make it hard to do simple tasks like writing out words.
These engaging activities shift the focus from perfect handwriting to mastering the basic concepts in a fun and memorable way. Practice writing without a pencil!
I wrote this article years ago and recently gave it a long-overdue overhaul. Although it was designed for practicing spelling words, all the activities would work equally well for practicing number formations, doing math drills and writing their names!
Basically, they
are ideal for any writing activity where the real goal is to understand or to practice the concept, not to write it out perfectly neatly.
Pop on over and be inspired to give your child some great hands-on summer fun this week!
