Hands-On Summer!
Boost Skills With
Touch Perception Activities!
I'm excited to share the first of my Hands-On Summer Newsletter series designed to bring fun activities to your summer routine!
As a homeschooling mom and occupational therapist, I’ve seen how taking the time for hands-on activities can help improve children’s skills while creating summer memories.
Why Focus on Hands-On Activities?
In a world where screens take up so much of our time, it’s vitally important to make time for hands-on activities. These can boost our children’s development, foster creativity and give us more time to bond with our kids.
Spotlight on Touch Perception
This week, our focus is on touch perception – how your brain makes sense of what your hands are touching and holding. Touch perception helps you to hold objects with just the right amount of pressure and to use the objects efficiently and effectively.
Our children need this skill to perform fine motor tasks like doing buttons, tying shoelaces and controlling a pencil.
I’ve compiled a page of tactile discrimination activities that range from simple to challenging, using everyday objects and toys that you may already have at home.
Take these ideas and see how you can make them work for YOUR family and YOUR situation!
