It's Play-Doh Day Tomorrow! Build Stronger Hands!
September 15, 2025

It's National Play-Doh Day!
Build Stronger Hands & Skills!

Tomorrow (Sep 16) is National Play-Doh Day! It is the perfect excuse to bring out a tub of that perennial childhood favorite! Not only will they be having fun, but also building skills.

As an occupational therapist, I believe that playdough is one of the best tools for developing the fine motor skills needed for handwriting. You can use it to develop scissor skills, strengthen hand muscles and work on finger dexterity.

Read my page of dedicated fine motor playdough activities, with photos and tips!

Playdough Activities for Fine Motor Skills

What about other skills?

Playdough activities can help with more than just fine motor skills.

You can use playdough to help improve bilateral coordination skills, provide calming sensory input and boost concrete learning skills like learning numbers, letters and math concepts!

Want to get inspired? Discover how to use playdough activities to support your child’s development on my updated page:
