Excessively Large Writing

My student writes so large and so hard that you can feel it through other paper. He can write two sentences and the page will be filled. He is in the 4th grade. What can I do?

Writing too large

I just saw this post and have the duplicate issue with my child.
His printing/writing is big like you would expect from a kindergarden student just learning how to print.
I have tried the letter tracing, I have tried box writing, so that there is a small box for each word, I have tried graph paper and none have worked.
So Im looking forward to seeing what suggestions are posted :)
Dark writing

Try a mechanical pencil for kids who push too hard, the lead will break and they will learn not to push so hard.
