I've divided the activities into those with straight lines to cut on, and those with simple shapes.

Cutting Straight Lines

The following Christmas cutting activities use straight lines and are ideal for preschoolers and kindergartners who need to practice their scissor skills.

Christmas Wreath

Made from strips of colored paper and a paper plate, this simple Christmas wreath is ideal for kids who are just learning to cut on lines. You can even have 2 or 3 kids working on a wreath together.

An adult needs to staple the strips to the paper plate.

Paper Lanterns

These old fashioned paper lanterns are made from colored cardstock, and can be used with or without a toilet roll inner.

An adult needs to staple or glue the lantern together.

Cutting Simple Shapes

The following cutting activities use simple shapes to encourage your novice cutter.

Christmas Trees

These cute Christmas trees are made from 3 triangles that can be hung loosely or pasted on paper.

Decorate with beads threaded onto chenille sticks/pipe cleaners, or with small paper balls.

Very little adult help needed with the making of the trees, unless you use the bead decorations.

Simple Christmas Angels

These have to be the simplest paper angels ever! Made from circles cut from white card-stock, they are completed with a small piece of chenille stick/pipe cleaner and a bead.

Not suitable for very young children owing to the beads. Some adult help needed in assembling the angels.
